I'm far from any expert on mice, but for what kind of mouse are you looking? Do you like wire or wireless? How much do you want to spend on it? I assume you want one for both general purpose and gaming, so it should have variable sensitivity. Call me outdated, but I personally like wired mice. They don't need batteries and the wire is a solid connection (albeit cumbersome), unlike infrared and wireless: they are susceptible to interference. There are a host of manufacturers--Logitech Microsoft and Razer come to mind. I personally like the Razer mice. They are responsive and well built.

i have a logitech mx518...i like them, but now, after buying my second one, they have both had the same problem...the left click button develops a problem ....when I use the combine machinegun or the smg...i hold down the button for repeat fire and it doesn't do it reliably...
both have this issue, so I am going to buy a different mouse pretty soon...after i read the recomendations in this forum.

Well, my dad has the Razer Diamond back and I have the Krait. I suggest if you looking for buttons go for the Naga. It has a full scale number pad on its side for a whole arsonal of weapons. Just helping out! ^.^

I personally just use my keyboard for weapons so i dont need buttons but the Krait is a super sensative mouse and it moves beautifully. The diamond back has 2 extra buttons on its sides and moves the same was as the Krait but has an adjustable sensitivity level. Both excellent mouse.

Just a follow-up--I too have a Razer Diamondback. It has 4 additional buttons beyond the standard three plus on-the-fly variable sensitivity. Two buttons are on the left side just below the left click button and the other two are located symmetrically on the right side. They are designed to be pressed with the thumb, so in reality you effectively have access to two buttons at a time unless your fingers are really dexterous. In the game, I only use one of the two buttons for the purpose of talking. It is much easier to press that button then one on the keyboard and if I choose, I can talk and "kill and move" at the same time.
I have been using it exclusively for the last 2 years with absolutely no problems with its reliability. It is not the latest nor the greatest model, but it works very well for me in both general purpose work and, of course, gaming.

I had a Razer Copperhead, until my ex-cat knocked an entire pint of beer over onto it...it hasn't been the same since.
(Great mouse, though)
I was mad, because someone Gave that mouse to me.
